Are you looking for work? Not sure where to start? No matter the industry or location, the internet is where you should begin your search. Studies have revealed one of the most common ways people find jobs is online. Sites such as Seek, Indeed or LinkedIn can be valuable resources for locating and comparing jobs across a range of industries and locations. However, there are a range of other industry and location-based job boards that you may never have even thought about.
Today we are going to look at some key job boards with an emphasis on Victoria and the public service.
Public Service Jobs
Are you searching for a job in the Victorian public service? Careers.vic.gov.au is an excellent place to start. The site allows job seekers to search for jobs across a range of government departments and organisations. It includes listings for a range of government department jobs including Court Services Victoria, Development Victoria and the Department Of Premier And Cabinet. Also featured are a range of jobs across other public sector industries, such as healthcare. The site features a comprehensive search feature. Users can search jobs according to organisation, industry, salary, location and whether the work is full or part-time.
Council
There are many career possibilities across local government. LGA Assist and Careers At Council are specialist job boards which are ideal for those who are looking to work in local government. Both sites allow you to search for council jobs across Victoria and nationally. In addition, the sites also allow you to search according to job type and employment type (.e.g whether the job is full-time or part-time).
Education
Have you considered working in the Education industry? The Victorian Government’s Early Childhood Education site provides a useful resource for those in the education sector. The site includes a job searching feature that is specifically tailored to the Education industry. It allows you to search according to location and type of work, as well as whether the work is full-time, part-time, or casual and any incentive offered.
Location
If location is at the forefront of your priorities, some regions have a specific job hub. Location specific job boards are especially beneficial if you are trying to find a job in a particular geographic region. They can be especially useful for those trying to find employment in regional Victoria. For example, the North East Victorian Job Hub covers the North East region of Victoria, while Geelong Careers covers the Geelong region. Jobs across a variety of industries, including the public service are advertised on these job boards. Typically, the sites allow you to search for jobs according to industry and where in the region the position is located.
